Parallaxy gameplay guide

Colonization in Parallaxy

The configured limit is 3 settlements per galaxy (21 across all 7 galaxies). Owned settlements and active outbound or resolving colonization orders count against the destination galaxy’s limit. A successful expansion sends a Colony Vessel from a prepared origin to an available zone on another supported planet.

Prepare the origin settlement

All current requirements must be met at the same origin before launch.

Idle Tier 3 Command Center

The configured Command Center tier supplies the mission channel used by the expansion flight.

Idle Tier 3 Shipyard

The configured Shipyard tier is required alongside an available Colony Vessel.

Planetary Colonization

The configured expansion research must be complete at the origin settlement.

One available Colony Vessel

Launch commits one vessel to the flight. A successful arrival uses it to establish the colony; a failed landing sends it back to the origin.

One free mission channel

The origin Command Center must have capacity for another active flight.

Choose a supported destination

The target must be a different planet with an available, unreserved settlement zone.

  1. Select another planet

You cannot already own or be establishing another settlement on that planet.

  2. Meet its environmental rule

Naturally habitable planets pass without extra environmental research. A supported non-habitable family must map to exactly one completed environmental research effect.

  3. Choose a settlement zone and name

The selected surface zone must still be open and not reserved by another active colonization flight.

  4. Wait for arrival

A successful arrival creates the new settlement. If the landing can no longer complete, the vessel enters a timed return instead.

Environmental research rules

Supported non-habitable planet families come from current research effects, not from a hardcoded public list.

Naturally habitable planets

A naturally habitable planet needs no additional environmental research, but every other expansion requirement still applies.

Extreme Habitat Engineering

Completing this research at the origin allows colonization rules to accept volcanic and ice worlds.

Other non-habitable environments

A non-habitable planet remains unsupported when its family does not map to exactly one current environmental research effect.
